Meet Me on Monday

Hello bloggy friends. I've missed you. Sorry for my temporary absence. Everything is fine, I'm just having a writing slump. I think it has something to do with the rain. I've said it before. The Daily Hoop-lah is a misnomer. Maybe I should call it The Every Other Week Hoop-lah. But that would require me to redo my header. And that isn't happening. At least until I meet another celebrity.

So in the sincerest form of imitation, I'm borrowing an idea from another blogger at Never Growing Old. Each week she posts her answers to a series of Meet Me On Monday questions. Here are mine, technically last week on hers. But that's me, always behind.

1. Caesar Salad or Garden Salad?

Garden salad, of course, because it's so much better for you. I'm all about health, you know. At least theoretically.

2. Will you be watching the Royal Wedding on April 29th?

Oh yeah. How often does a girl get to become a real-life princess? My mom let me stay home from school when Charles and Diana got married. How cool is that? I made the same offer to the hoop-lahs, but they didn't seem interested. So I'll be a viewing party of one. Unless you'd like to come over and watch with me.

3. Last thing you spent lots of money on?

Taking the hoop-lahs to see African Cats today. Great movie and only $5 for the late afternoon matinee at the Johnston theater. But geez, stay away from the concession stand. $7 for medium popcorn and $5 for a medium pop. Isn't that insane? Especially when you're buying more than one.

4. Window seat or aisle seat?

Window all the way. I love looking at the clouds and the scenery down below. Flying over the Rockies when we went to Phoenix was amazing.

5. Do you know your blood type?

Red? Is that the right answer?

Look for the 24 x 36 glossy above my fireplace

What do you think of my header? You knew I was going to find a way to feature my new friend. Oh, and there are current pictures of the Hoop-lahs, too.

I hope you like it. It's not changing again anytime soon unless someone can tell me how to make my headline bigger. As it is, I spent an entire day on this. 10 minutes of working, 10 minutes of banging my head on the desk. But I finally got it. And I'll forget how I did it all by tomorrow.

So have I told you about my friend? I got to meet him last Friday night at his concert in Des Moines. It was Girls Night Out for the Storm moms. We had a great time sitting in the VIP section (thanks Dottie!) until a nasty smell drove us down to the floor. Still a great view. He put on a terrific show for the "old ladies," as a certain Hoop-lah likes to call us. My heart, of course, went right back to 1981. What can I say? That was my decade. Although I did refrain from tucking my shirt in.

Girls Night Out

Isn't this the best looking group of VIPs you've ever seen?

Apparently I need a stylist

Someone asked me recently if I had graduated in the 80s.

Why yes, I did. How did you know?

Because you always wear your shirts tucked in.

I think that was an insult. But it's SO TRUE.

Bitchin' about the bus - AGAIN

I nearly somersaulted down the stairs to take this picture. That is my driveway. That is my tree. That is my garbage can. And that is the bus. THE BUS. The one my children can't ride, but whose drivers practice so often in front of my house that I really should invite them in for coffee.

So close, so close but yet so far.
